There are 2 types of installation for the VEA.
The classic assembly with access on both sides of the façade to be installed and a so-called “blind” assembly which is used when interior access to the façade is not possible. This type of mounting is used in the case of glass cladding, for example concealing a concrete facade or external building insulation.
The SADEV Classic fixing range integrates all the necessary solutions for the various implementation constraints.

Any structure, whether primary or secondary, heavy or light, can be adapted to take up a stapled glass structure. It must be sized according to the regulations in force for each application (facade, glass roof, other).
Most commonly simple metal structures are used, but it is also possible to make structures with wooden structures, cables or tie rods, or all-glass structures (bracing or glass posts).

The thickness of the glass to be used is essential for the durability of the work.
For any architectural project, our technical teams will assist you and are able to calculate the thickness of glazing required, taking into account all the constraints and loads of your project (dimensional, climatic, seismic, etc.).
Each country has its own calculation rules and standards. SADEV engineers adapt to the specifications of your project.

No, there is no maximum recommended glazing size. There will always be a suitable technical combination for your project.
However, you must take into account the following:
The weight and the manufacturing process of the glazing, they will determine the choice of the attachment and the dimensioning.
Other factors must also be taken into account, such as climatic and seismic loads, or the type of structure desired.

There are two types of glass drilling:
– Cylindrical drilling, where the fastener is over-thickness glass. It is suitable for any type of application and is recommended for the installation of suspended glass (when the structure is above the glass, for a glass roof or glass ceiling for example).
– The milled hole, where the attachment is flush with the glass. It is suitable for any type of application and is to be preferred for having a “100% smooth” facade or awning.

Glass manufacturing rules, and more specifically tempering rules, generally recommend drilling at a distance of 2x the thickness of the glass (distance between the edge of the glass and the edge of the hole).
In the case of laminated glazing, the thickness of the glass retained is that of the thickest glass component. For example, for 8.6/4 glazing, the minimum drilling distance is 2×8 = 16mm.
For corners, other recommendations are to be respected.

Monolithic or laminated, tempered or toughened glass can be used to create a facade in VEA (the type of glass and its thickness must be dimensioned and validated for each application).
It can also be glass :
– Decorative glass: sandblasted, lacquered, digitally printed, coloured, enamelled, etc.
– Photovoltaic glass
Laminated glass must be assembled with different spacers PVB, PVB DG41, PVB trosifol ES, EVA, Sentryglass.

Yes, in special cases such as chemical pollution, stainless steel can oxidise. To avoid this kind of inconvenience, it is important to take into consideration the maintenance details of stainless steel to ensure the durability of our parts and systems for hanging architectural glass.

Seismicity is one of the external stresses that can affect disorders on a façade.
Sadev has therefore adapted and certified its VEA systems to be able to respond to this problem. To date, our certification covers all seismicity zones (including zone 4) and all categories of building importance (i.e. the maximum seismicity in France).

No, glass does not limit the size of the facade, however, the supporting structure must be adequate.

Yes, the SADEV fixing range integrates a solution specially designed and tested to withstand a 100 kg load of TNT placed 25 m from a point supported facade in order to allow the construction of safe and secure public buildings.
With the increase in the problems of terrorist attack, the protection of building occupants against blast effects is an international objective.

This type of external envelope allows an aesthetic and very transparent facade to be created.
It consists of fasteners (rotules, spider, etc.), elements implemented on the supporting structure and fixing elements passing through the glass (fixing ball, fixing screws).
All of these different elements allow the glazing to absorb the various mechanical and climatic stresses, wind loads, seismic loads and glazing expansion.
Each element of the SADEV Classic has been produced following in-depth studies (design, FEM mechanical calculation, laboratory tests).

It is possible to carry out a multitude of projects using VEA (Stapled Exterior Glass) fasteners, such as:
Vertical or inclined glass façades, flake facades, canopies, awnings, lift elevator. This procedure is also suitable for other less conventional structures, such as water walls, curved facades, seaside facades or “not in a void”.

Yes, it is possible to create a watertight glass façade.
For this purpose we have developed a wide range of products for the waterproofing of VEA and pinched glass façades, including ball-and-socket joints, fasteners and seals.

Yes, we have developed systems that allow you to create insulating glass façades.
Our rotule range includes spherical plain bearings specially designed for insulating glass (double or triple glazing).

The difference between these two types of facade is the choice of fastening system.
Point supported fastening systems require the glass to be drilled, whereas clamped systems make it possible to hold undrilled glass in the corners or on the sides.
The strength calculations will be identical between drilled and undrilled glass.

According to the desired dimensions and the climatic loads of your project. For this reason, SADEV offers a range of 4 types of awnings meeting all the needs of the market:
– Arcade canopy: Model with a single glass with 4 or 6 fixing points (model for private or public application)
– Marquise Plazza : Model with several glasses allowing to realize larger linear in 4 or 6 fixing points (model for private or public application)
– Marquise Corole: Single-glass model with 4 fixing points (model for private or public use)
– Light canopy: Single-glass model with 4 fixing points (model for residential application)

In order to propose the model adapted to the application and to ensure the safety of the users, we systematically propose a study that can be accompanied by a supporting calculation note. Our standard models can also be adapted for more specific applications (very large glass dimensions, adaptation of fixing plates for optimal implementation, etc.).

The performances of our products meet the RT 2012 currently in force, but also the next standard: the RT 2020.
Our architectural solutions are suitable for promoting energy consumption, particularly in the context of the construction of positive energy buildings.
